Richard J. Robles

Rotterdam, Richard J. Robles (Ricky), 74, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Richard was born in Tampa, Florida and a longtime resident of Rotterdam. He was the son of the late Joseph and Doreen (Breheney) Robles.

Richard graduated from Duanesburg High School and then served in the United States Navy as a Corpsman in Jacksonville, Florida during the Vietnam War. After returning, he worked for the United States Post Office as a mail carrier in Schenectady and then in Niskayuna for over 40 years, where he made many friends and truly loved his job. Richard was a member of Our Lady, Queen of Peace Parish.

He was a devoted husband to his wife Anna for 51 years. He deeply loved his three sons Richard II, Joseph, Robert, their wives, and adored his grandchildren. He was very proud of his two eldest grandchildren who are members of the military. He would attend sports games, taekwondo, many school functions and enjoyed playing with his youngest grandchildren.

Richard loved riding his motorcycle, whether with his wife, sons, friends, or just by himself. He loved working on the farm where he grew up, taking the grandchildren on walks and tractor rides. He organized a monthly get together with his high school classmates. He loved the outdoors, getting together with his children on their boats, his son’s camp on Sacandaga Lake and vacationing in Cape Cod. When the children were younger, the family would go on camping vacations to Thompson’s Lake and then Sacandaga Lake. His favorite activities were driving his boat, paddling his canoe, playing baseball, bowling, and golfing. Through these activities, he made many dear friends. Richard will be fondly remembered for his infectious smile and big hugs.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Dolores Robles and his baby granddaughter Breanne Hope Robles.

He is survived by his wife, Anna, son Richard II (Heather), and grandsons Richard Thomas, Keegan, and Jameson; son Joseph (Kimberly), and granddaughter Hailey; and son Robert (Ashley) and grandsons Noah and Alex. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law: Jerry Fallat, George Fallat and Jeff Fallat; sisters-in-law: Gloria Miller Larsen (Chuck) and Deb Ploetz (Jeff), and many nieces and nephews.

Family members and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass at Our Lady, Queen of Peace Church, Rotterdam on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 11am. There will be no calling hours before Mass. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Schenectady City Mission.
