Richard Rivera

Richard A. Rivera Sr. 53, died Sunday August 8, 2004 at Saratoga Hospital after losing a long battle with cancer. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of Arturo and Ruth Rivera of Rotterdam, NY. A graduate of Burgess High School in El Paso TX., he returned to Schenectady in 1972 and worked for Vale Cemetery, DePaula Chevrolet and Toyota until he moved to Washington, MO in 1995. Richard was employed by Hazel Binding Co. as a machine operator until they closed in 2003, then went to work for Rockwood School District until his recent illness. Richard had a passion for music and singing and was of the catholic faith. Besides his parents he is survived by 2 children; Richard A. Rivera Jr. of Washington, MO and Renee' M. Rivera of Union, MO., a brother, Dale Pisarczyk of Niskayuna, 4 sisters; Dawn M. Rivera of Ballston Spa, Renee M. Rivera of Hagerstown, MD., Dee E. Martin of Clermont, Fl. and Tina L. Rivera of Glen Falls, 2 grandchildren Dakota Rivera and Kristina Wilson, his former wife Toni (Dano) Rivera of Owensville, MO and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning 11 am at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 pm. Internment in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Richards's memory to the American cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY12211.
