Richard H Quay

Richard H. Quay 73 of Rotterdam Junction, NY died Thursday morning November 10, 2005 at Hospice Inn at St. Peters after a long illness. Richard was born in Schenectady and was the son of the late Clifford and Hilda Quay. A graduate of Draper High School, Richard was the president of Clifford H. Quay and Sons for over 30 years before retiring in the mid 1990's. He was a 25 year member of the South Schenectady Fire Department where he served on the rescue Squad and was a Captain on the competing squad, a member of the Rotterdam Elks, Mohawk Valley Art & Wood Carving Association, the Eastern New York Contactors Association and former officer. He was a member of the Bricklayers and Local Craftsman local 2 for over 54 years. Dick was also a former member of the Rotterdam Kiwanis and the Board of directors of Trustco Bank. Survivors include his wife Ivy L. Quay (Chaplin) who he married January 15, 1992, 3 children; Deborah Escobar (Jorge) of Rotterdam, Kim Valentino (Dominick) of Schenectady and Richard R. Quay(Paula) of Utah, a brother Darwyn N. Quay (Myrna) of Rotterdam ,a sister Karen Rusk (William) of Jackson Mississippi, 7 grandchildren; Rosana, Michael and J.R. Escobar and Brian, Christopher, Scott and Brittany Quay,3 nephews; Rickey ,Darwyn and Jeffrey Quay, a niece Leigh Lamson-Quay and his beloved pet Samantha. Funeral Services will be held Monday morning November 14, 2005 at 11 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. Calling hours will be held Sunday November 13, 2005 from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Interment in Woestina Cemetery, Rotterdam Junction, NY. Contributions may be made in Richard's memory to Hospice inn At St. Peter's, 315 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208 or to the Animal Protective foundation of Schenectady County, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302
