Richard M Johnson

June 2, 1947 — February 7, 2007

Richard Mahlon Johnson June 2, 1947 - February 7, 2007 After a brief battle with pancreatic cancer, Richard Mahlon Johnson left us on Wednesday morning, February 7, 2007, at the age of 59. He left this world with the same courage, grace and generosity of spirit with which he lived his life. Born June 2, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah to parents Laurence C. ("Bill") and Theresa Johnson, Rick was a loving husband and father, and a person who loved to be surrounded by family and friends. His generous heart, eternal optimism and pure love of life affected all those who were fortunate enough to know him. He was an expert skier, widely traveled and especially treasured the years he and his wife Terri spent living in Hawaii. Rick graduated from Highland High School (Salt Lake City, UT) in 1965 and attended the University of Utah. He was an entrepreneur who achieved a level of success in several business ventures. Rick had a natural talent for home remodeling and over the years performed a number of such projects for friends and clients, as well as for his own properties. His knack for working with his hands?a gift inherited from his father?extended also to his kitchen; Rick had a passion for cooking, and frequently friends and family were the lucky beneficiaries of his gourmet skills. Preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Erynne, Rick is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Terri (LeGere) Jackson, of Delanson, NY; by his brother, Laurence C. Johnson, Jr., of Pasadena, Calif.; by his son, Matthew Johnson, of Salt Lake City, Utah; by his daughter, Heather Jackson, of Portland, Ore.; and by numerous extended family and friends. Family, friends, and associates are invited to attend a memorial service Monday, February 12, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, New York, with Father Ed Deimeke officating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. A memorial gathering in Salt Lake City is being contemplated, please email 'inmemoryofRick@gmail.com' to be notified of further information. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Rick's memory to the New York State Center for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Albany Medical Center, 47 New Scotland Ave, Albany, NY 12208.
