Richard C Hallett

April 30, 1941 — December 7, 2016

Richard C. Hallett, 75, of Schenectady passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on December 7, 2016. Born in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Marion (Owens) Hallett. He served his country in the US Navy. Richard was employed for the General Electric Company as a crane operator. He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Rotterdam. Richard was a member of the American Legion and the Rotterdam Elks. He was passionate about golf and bowling. Richard also enjoyed going to the casino. The family would like to thank Dr. Roberta Miller and the team at St. Peter's ALS Center and the nurses of the ICU at the VA Medical Center for their compassionate care of Richard. Also a thank you to the home based Primary Care unit at the VA. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara (Stone) Hallett, four loving children Cheryl Borski (Max) of Duanesburg, Kimberly Pomykaj (Edward) of Glenville, Amy Roach (Scott) Esperance and Melissa DiGiovanni (Marcus) of Duanesburg, two brothers William Hallett (Rosie) of Cicero, NY and Ronald Hallett (Arlene) of Colonie, four sisters Beverly VanWagenen (Ebbie) of Colonie, Georgianna Kahl of Latham, Suzanne Cornell (Dick) of Chandler, AZ and Kathy Messier of Albany, NY, also survived by 6 grandchildren Heather Pomykaj, Edward Pomykaj, Emily Russo, Amaya DiGiovanni, Marcus DiGiovanni and Hannah Borski as well as several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Richard's Life will be Saturday December 17, 2016 at 11AM at Messiah Lutheran Church 2850 Guilderland Avenue Rotterdam. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Contributions can be made in Richard's memory to the St. Peter's ALS Regional Center 19 Warehouse Row Albany, NY 12205 or Messiah Lutheran Church 2850 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady, NY 12306. Arrangements are by the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady.
