Richard Wayne Fowler

Richard Wayne Fowler, 70, of Mariaville Road, died peacefully at home on Friday, May 17th. Known by Rick or Ricky, he was born in Ballston Spa, NY, and was the son of the late Alice Fowler of Rotterdam, NY. Rick was an extremely loyal man, having worked and retired from the Town of Rotterdam, he served his town proudly as the Highway Road Supervisor for over 30 years.

Throughout his life, Rick was a member of the Rotterdam Eagles, while having a passion as an avid classic car collector, NASCAR fan, an as a stock car owner and driver; specifically in a car he named “22”, an homage to his first-born daughter Tamie. Rick loved to spend time in his yard and was meticulous about landscaping and making sure his property always looked picturesque. Rick loved listening to Elvis Presley and was always known for his signature favorite color of black, which he wore at all times. In his earlier years, Rick was a young and aspiring professional magician, “The Great Ricardo”, as he spent many years traveling and performing magic tricks, including at the NY State Fair.

Richard was predeceased by his loving wife, Victoria J. Fowler, whom he married on March 21, 1972. He is survived by his two daughters, Tamie L. Fowler and Tanya Lee, siblings Kathy Moffre, Karen Oakley (Mike) and Terri Avery (Peter), and sister-in-law Nancie Askew (Billy) of Rotterdam, NY. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Justice Victoria Paige, whom he adored. Rick is also survived by his longtime girlfriend Diane Marco of Rotterdam, NY, and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, May 23 from 10 AM to 12 PM at Bond Funeral Home, on the corner of Broadway and Guilderland Ave in Schenectady, NY. Burial will be immediately following at Viewland Cemetery, Rotterdam, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations, may be made to a charity and/or purpose of your choice.
