Richard A. Canter 76 died Monday at his home in Rotterdam. Born in Schenectady, Richard is the son of the Samuel and Augusta (Yelin) Canter and had attended Hudson Valley Community College. A plumbing specialist at Home Depot for over 12 years, Richard had also worked for Builders Square and Wartime Hardware in Waterford. A true handyman, he enjoyed camping and motorcycles. Richard is survived by his beloved wife Catherine A. (Shatley) Canter, a brother Lawrence Canter, 2 uncles Harold and Norman Canter as well as several nieces, nephews and In-laws. Funeral services will be held on Friday August 16 at 2 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment in Schenectady Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302 in Richard's memory.
