Reuben P. Perkett, 85, passed away Tuesday May 9th at is home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Keesville, NY, Reuben was the son of the late Ellery and Mary (Martin) Perkett and a graduate of Illion High School. A former distict manager for Conoco Oil Company in Virginia, Reuben retired after 20 years of service. An Air Force veteran, he was a member of the American Legion in Herkimer, the 40and 8's, the N.R. A. and a former Boy Scout Leader. Reuben was a classic country music fan and was a Mr. Fix it who could repair cars and guitars. Predeceased by his 10 brothers and sisters, Reuben is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years ,Barbara J. (Vancour) Perkett, his children; Robin A. Perkett (Rosemarie) of Schenectady,Bonnie M. Barner (Brian) of Scotia, Bradley J. Perkett (Tona) of Eden, NY and Kimberly M. LaMora (Pat Popolizio) of Rotterdam, his grandchildren; Jason Perkett (Kayla Young), Angela Perkett, Chris Barner(Jamie Nassar), Katie Barner (Jeff Whittaker), Felicia LaMora (Derek Naze), Samantha Kaniewski (Tom Keating) Jeffrey Lafountain and Charlize Perkett, his sister,Dawn Broadbent of Oppenheim, NY , 7 1/2 great grandchildren and several niece and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning May 15th at 11am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY followed at 11:45 am at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant Street, Schenectady, NY where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. (PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE FOR FUNERAL HOME SERVICE AND MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL) A visitation will be held on Sunday evening May 14th from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in St Cyrils Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY The family would like to thank all of Reuben's Doctor's and nurses at the VA Medical Center in Albany as well as all the DAV volunteer Van drivers who helped with transportation.
