Renice L Schermerhorn

Renice (Betty) L. Schermerhorn 90 died Thursday afternoon December 8, 2005 at St. Clares Hospital. Born in Ashby, MA, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Leoda (Merritt) Ballou. A homemaker, Betty worked for 8 years for Barney's Department Store in the drapery department. She was a member of the 2nd Reformed Church of Rotterdam, a 50 year member of the ladies auxiliary of the Schownee Volunteer Fire Department and served over 50 years on the election board of District #13. Her husband for 30 years Simon Schermerhorn died on September 26, 1962. Betty was also predeceased by a son Simon J. Schermerhorn. Survivors include two sons Donald F. Schermerhorn of Mary Esther, Fl and Richard C. Schermerhorn (Marie) of Montgomery, NY, a brother William Clark of Princetown and three sisters Eleanor LaRoche of Fitchburg, MA, Jean Hartshorne of Ballston Spa and Patricia Merchant of Bolton Landing, 7 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Monday evening December 12, 2005 at 7 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY with a calling hour being held from 6 to 7 pm prior to the service. Interment in Viewland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
