Raymond G. Slezak 85 formerly of Clyde Avenue died Wednesday morning December 7, 2005 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home after a short illness. Born in Amsterdam, Raymond was the son of the late Lawrence and Josephine (Grybos) Slezak and a graduate of Wilber Lynch High School in Amsterdam. He attended Wentworth Institute and was a Navy veteran of WWII. Raymond worked for the General Electric Company for over 41 years retiring in 1981 as a supervisor in Methods Planning. He was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, the ? century of the GE, the Turbine Supervisor Association and the Rotterdam Elks. Raymond was predeceased in 2004 by his wife of 59 years Margaret (Komp) Slezak and his brother Anthony Slezak. Survivors include his four children Lawrence Slezak and wife Judith of Springfield, MA, David Slezak of Rotterdam, Kathryn Smith and husband Daniel of Princetown and Marilyn Petro and husband Mark of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, two brothers Chester and Norbert Slezak and a sister Winfred Petroski all of Amsterdam, nine grandchildren two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning December 10, 2005 at 8:15 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY followed at 9am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Princetown Road, Rotterdam where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, NY. Contributions may be made in Raymond's memory to a charity of one choice.
