Raymond F Munger

February 1, 1957 — May 23, 2015

Raymond Frederick Munger suddenly passed back into the ether on May 23rd, 2015. Ray was born at Albany Memorial Hospital February 1, 1957, to Edgar Willard Munger and Helen (Powers). He was raised in Halfmoon, NY. Ray was a free spirit right out of the gate, running alongside his older brothers, who can give details of their adventures down to the minute hand on the clock. Ray was an athletic young man finding a first love in baseball. When attending Shenendehowa H.S. he excelled in track and field, throwing javelin, and breaking the record for indoor high jump, which held for many years. After High school he attended HVCC and later received his Bachelor's degree from Siena College. In school he was the editor of the college paper, and was a member of the chess club. He had an insatiable curiosity for all subject matters. His interests were unbound, finding most joy in art, music, writing, science and nature. His career was ever evolving beginning in Graphic Design and Marketing for KeyBank. He reinvented himself in the late 90's learning computer programming, and began working for CMA. Ray was currently employed by the NYS Deptartment of Mental Health. Adding to his achievements was a PV Solar Technology certificate. At home Ray was an accomplished woodworker. He built cribs, beds, desks, cabinets, decks, bird houses, chessboards, cutting boards, wooden bowls, and so on. Each piece he made was for no one else but for his family, friends and the joy of creation. But what we will miss most of all is how welcomed and loved he made each of us feel. Anyone who entered our home was greeted with great warmth and affection. He shared stories, laughter and insight with all those around him. Ray is survived by his wife Dari (Gates), his three children: Patrick, Morgan and Brandon, his three brothers Ed, Art and Jim, and many loved nieces and nephews. Recently in his own words, he shared with us these thoughts... "We are star-dust, we are precious; we know we are alive, we love..." - Dad, The Space Cadet. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 29 from 4-6:30pm at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Ave., Schenectady with a memorial service held at 6:30pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation be made to the Mohawk Animal Shelter http://www.mohawkhumanesociety.org/
