Raymond E Bradt Jr, 80, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2024 at his home in Charlton after a long and heroic battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born on June 16, 1943, in Schenectady NY to Raymond Sr and Eva Bradt, he was the youngest of three children and was raised in the Rotterdam area. It is here where he met Gail Zullo, the love of his life, and the two were happily married on August 9, 1964. Ray and Gail’s commitment to each other was the purest example of unconditional love and has allowed them to cherish a marriage that has lasted for over 59 years.
Ray was a devoted and hard-working family man who excelled at any task or challenge put before him. He was employed at General Electric as a Class A Toolmaker, where his work ethic and commitment to excellence allowed him to have a successful career for over 35 years. Ray took great pride in passing these values, life lessons, and his wisdom along to his family to ensure that they had the ability to succeed in life.
Ray, along with his family, truly enjoyed spending summers at the family camp which he and his father built in Shady Bay on the Great Sacandaga Lake. He loved hunting, fishing, boating and motorsports. Ray was a private and humble man who did not like to draw attention to himself. It was these qualities along with a welcoming smile that were endearing to those fortunate enough to share in his company. Both he and Gail had a small circle of friends, many of whom became part of the family.
Ray survived by his wife of over 59 years, Gail, his son Jeffrey Bradt, his daughter Kristin (Ron) Zalucki, granddaughter Jessica Zalucki, grandson Blaise Zalucki along with several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Jen, Rosalie, Joann and many others at Community Hospice for their compassionate care and support over the past several years, along with several Hospice volunteers for their selfless donation of their time and friendship.
Calling hours will be held at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady on Monday, January 22, 2024, 6 pm - 8 pm with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that memorial contributions be made to the Community Hospice of Saratoga and Washington County 179 Lawrence St. Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 in Ray’s name and also we encourage you to share a story or leave a message at www.bondfuneralhome.com .
