Raymond J. Arquette Sr.

October 27, 1962 — April 19, 2025

Duanesburg, Mr. Raymond J. Arquette, Sr., 62, of Duanesburg, NY, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at home, surrounded by his family and under the care of The Community Hospice. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on October 27, 1962, the son of Robert S. and Shirley R.  (Hemingway) Arquette.

Ray was self-employed as a carpenter, builder and home remodeler. But he did so much more than that.  He embodied the spirit of a Renaissance man, acquiring profound knowledge and proficiency in many fields. He knew and engaged in all aspects of construction including foundations, structure, electrical, plumbing, roofing, siding and landscaping. He was a proficient mechanic of automobiles, large equipment, farm equipment, small engines, motorcycles and atvs. He engaged in his lifelong love of farming beef cows, as well as tapping the maple trees on his property and making maple sugar. He kept bees for honey. He was devoted to his extensive garden where he grew, canned and cooked all kinds of fruits and vegetables for his family and friends. He hunted, fished, boated, did back country camping, maintained his classic 1970 Chevy pickup,  and was a wonderful wood carver.

Ray’s largest project was to build the residential subdivision in which he lived, as well as all of the houses in the subdivision. The neighbors in the subdivision consider him an amazing friend, neighbor and pillar of the community. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Ray was predeceased by his parents, and his sister Nancy (William) Rogoza. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Tammy J. (Tuller) Arquette, his daughter Rachel J Arquette of Fitchburg, MA, and his son Raymond J Arquette, Jr (and fiancée Seneca Beardsley) of Duanesburg, NY. He is also survived by his dear and close sister, Sandra (Daniel) Woodrow of Averill Park, NY, his brother Dennis (Amy) Arquette of Schuyler Falls, NY and his brother Steven R. Arquette of Mooers Forks, NY.  He is survived by an uncle, many cousins, nieces and nephews, his mother-in-law Darlean Tuller of Beekmantown, NY and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law that were like his own family.  He was especially close to his niece, Carissa Woodrow and her children Jacob and Myra.

A Celebration of Raymond’s life will be Sunday April 27, 2025 at 3PM at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Ave. in Schenectady. Visitation will be from 1-3PM prior. Burial will be at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Chazy, NY on May 5, 2025, at a time to be announced and a Celebration of Life will be held at Irons, in West Chazy, NY on May 5, 2025 from 3:30-5:30pm.
