Pleasant High School and then entered the U.S. Navy in 1947. Upon release from the Navy, he worked at the Navy Depot, General Electric, and finally at the Tax and Finance Department in Albany. He and Carmela (Morra) were married 71 years, having been married on June 17, 1951. She was the love of his life. He attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, then later became a parishioner at the Immaculate Conception Parish, where he was an altar server, Eucharistic Minister, was chair of the RCIA, and a member of the Food Pantry. Following the closing of Immaculate Conception Church, he joined Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, where he was also active as an altar server, Eucharistic Minister, RCIA, and Bereavement Committee member. He later joined St. Edward the Confessor Parish in Clifton Park, New York, where he continued his charitable endeavors and quickly became a beloved member of this parish community.
He volunteered for thirteen years at the gift shop at the former St. Clare’s Hospital, and then volunteered for Catholic Charities at the Scotia/Glenville Senior Center, where he assisted at the meal site. Ralph traveled to many places, such as Italy, Jerusalem, Portugal, France, Spain, and for several years went on pilgrimages to the various shrines in Canada. He also went on several cruises that took him to many countries. He was very grateful to God for having the opportunity to travel as he did.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Carmela; five children, Joseph (Donna), Michael (Kate), Susan, Jean, Janet DiGiorgio-Miller (Robert); and grandchildren Alexandra DiGiorgio Casertano (Nicholas), Mary DiGiorgio Snider (Matthew), Joseph DiGiorgio, Christopher Cunningham, Melissa Cunningham, Morgan Cunningham, Emily Poll; and sister Dolores Fazio, as well as several nieces and nephews.
