Ralph M. Cook Jr. 92 passed away on Wednesday evening August 24th at Albany Medical Center with his wife and family beside him.
Born and Educated in Davenport, NY, Ralph was the son of the late Ralph and Eloise (Riddell) Cook Sr. and a 1947 graduate of Charlotte Valley Central.
An Army veteran of the Korean War serving in Germany, Ralph was a mortar Platoon Tech Sargent in the infantry.
A design engineer for New York Telephone (Verizon) for over 33 years, Ralph retired in 1990.
A gentleman farmer, Ralph enjoyed his Big John Tractor and was a woodcarver who specialized in animals. He was a member, elder, deacon and welcomer of the Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Princetown Hourglass Seniors, the Telephone Pioneers of America and former member of the Mohawk Valley Woodcarvers Association
Beside his parents, Ralph was predeceased by his sisters Ellen Wagoner (Late James E.) and Elaine Rutherford (Late Ray), his brother-in-law Edward Doherty (Late Janet), a nephew Donald Wagoner and niece Joyce Anderson (Late Dan).
Ralph is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Mary Jean (Doherty) Cook whom he married on June 5,1954, his sister, Mary Parker (Late Larry), his sister-in-law Sarah Doherty (Late Bernard), his cousins Morris (Butch) Riddell (Karen) and Joan Albano (Late Frank), a goddaughter, Falon Treis and her brother Dexter Treis. he was the beloved uncle Ralph to James Wagoner (Maria), Edward Wagoner (Sherry), Scott Doherty (Kathy), Stephen Doherty, Michael Parker (Marla), Jeffrey Rutherford (Fran), George Doherty (Late Cynthia), Brian Doherty (Linda), Barbara Wilgocki (Stanley), Susan Kirlin (Dan), Melanie Keator (Joseph), Cheryl Doherty Watts (Gary), Irene Kauch (Eric) and Martha Derosia (Harold) along with16 great nieces and nephews and 27 great great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Ralph's life will be held on Saturday September 3, 2022, at 11 am at The Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 3662 Giffords Church Road, Duanesburg, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to the celebration.
Interment in Schenectady Memorial Park will be private.
