Rachel E Jackson

March 19, 1944 — May 30, 2008

Rachel E. Jackson, 64, of Schenectady, died suddenly at St. Clares Hospital on Friday May 30, 2008. Born in Kingston, NY, she was the daughter of Fenton and Florence May (Jackson) Peopples. Rachel studied at both Union College in Schenectady and RPI in Troy. She was employed until her retirement as a Site Manager for Catholic Charities in Schenectady. Rachel was also employed part time at Ralph Cleaners in Schenectady. She was a member of the Bethel AME Church in Schenectady. Rachel was a member of the NAACP, Daughters of the Gloversville Elks, her local Bowling League and Church Committees. She was there for everybody and was a mother to all who were dependent upon her in the community. Rachel also supported and assisted on all her Grandchildren's school bus trips. She is predeceased by one daughter Darlean Denise Jackson, three brothers Bobby Williams, Clifford Jackson, Pete DeGrote, one sister Sissy DeGrote. Rachel is survived by two sons Sonny Clay of Waterford and Sam Riggins of Schenectady, two daughters Donna Norwood and Sidra Riggins both of Schenctady, three sisters Christine Palmer, Alice Hilts and Hun DeGrote all of Schenectady, also survived by her grandchildren-Michael Norwood, Nicholas Clay, Gammen Knight, Tirae Knight, Tishawn Knight, Donashia Knight, Alexis Clay, Jordan Clay, Zyier Holt, Hayden Clay, Issac Weaver also survived by her great grandchild Michael Norwood Jr. and her special friends Freddy Anderson (Freckles), Kathleen Gdulua, Bernice Howard and Beatrice Blood as well as a host of nieces,nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be Thursday 1PM at the Refreshing Spring Church of God in Christ 327 Summit Avenue Schenectady. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours will be Thursday morning 11AM-1PM at the Church. Internment will be in Parkview Cemetery in Schenectady. Arrangements are by the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady.
