Phyllis DeLeva
August 3, 1957 – March 29, 2025

Phyllis DeLeva, 67, of Glenville, NY, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with ALS, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Born on August 3, 1957, to Harold and Nadine Brown, Phyllis grew up with a deep appreciation for family, laughter, and the simple joys of life. She is survived by her siblings, Cheryl DeNice, Wayne Brown, and Jacqueline Millsaps; sister-in-law Dale Peterson (Daniel Peterson); and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was the devoted wife of the late Mark DeLeva, the love of her life, with whom she shared countless adventures. Together, they embraced life to the fullest—cruising to sun-soaked destinations, relishing summers on Great Sacandaga Lake with their cherished lake friends, and soaking up every bit of sunshine they could find.

Phyllis had a notorious sweet tooth, was a master chef of “camp spaghetti,” loved toasting to the “first of the day,” and dancing.

Above all, Phyllis adored her family. She was a proud and devoted mother to her two sons, Joseph DeLeva (Rachel Ferluge) and Matthew DeLeva (Joseph Littlefield). Her greatest joy was being “Grandma” to her beloved grandchildren, Theodore DeLeva Littlefield, Isla DeLeva and Stella DeLeva Littlefield.

A talented hairdresser for over 40 years, Phyllis built more than just a loyal clientele—she built lasting friendships. Her meticulous attention to detail, impeccable sense of organization, and remarkable memory were admired by all who knew her. Even in her final days, her sharp mind and keen recollection never faded.

Phyllis leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life well-lived. Her spirit will live on in every shared toast, every lake breeze, and every sun-drenched afternoon.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4 from 5-7pm at Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue  in Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to a charity that is meaningful to you.
