Norman A. Seymour, age 82, of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 6, 2026. Born in Niskayuna, New York, he was the son of the late Arthur and Theresa Seymour.
Norman proudly served his country as a United States Navy veteran aboard the USS Ticonderoga (CV-14). Following his military service, he dedicated his professional life to the U.S. Post Office, where he worked for many years as a local letter carrier.
A man deeply committed to service and community, Norman was actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America, serving as Committee Chairman for Troop 10 and as a selected member of the Order of the Arrow National Honor Society. He was also a devoted member of Kiwanis International of Rotterdam, where he served for more than 25 years, including terms as Treasurer and President, and as a representative to Mohonasen High School’s Key Club.
Norman was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans organization and was a volunteer at the Saratoga National Cemetery, honoring fellow veterans with quiet dignity and respect.
In addition to his many years of service, Norman was a skilled woodworker and co-owner of Crafts by NACA, where his craftsmanship and creativity were evident in every piece he made.
Norman was predeceased by the love of his life of 59 years, his wife Carol (Thwaits) Seymour, and by his brothers, Keith Seymour and Mark Seymour.
He is survived by his loving sons, Michael Seymour (Rhona) of Westchester and David Seymour (Mindy) of Smithtown, New York; and by his cherished grandchildren, Zach, Dylan, Ashley, Amiee, and Emily.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Norman’s memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans at https://www.helpdav.org.
