Noah V Kucij

October 28, 1979 — April 5, 2023

With profound sadness we share that Noah Vladz Kucij died unexpectedlym of natural causes on April 5th, at his home in Albany, N.Y. Noah was 43yrs old and had been a full-time member of the Hudson Valley Community College English faculty for fourteen years. He held a master’s degree in teaching from Union College and was close to completing a PhD in English at SUNY Albany.

He was a gifted writer having published numerous poems both print and online periodicals. In 2006 his chapbook "Burned Papers" was published in Toadlily Press as part of The Fifth Voice. In 2005 and 2006 Noah taught English in both Osaka and Fukuoka, Japan

Noah is survived by his wife Corey Cramer and their 8-year-old daughter,
Matilda June Kucij. He also leaves his parents John and Lyn Kucij of Schenectady and brother Jallah (Kristen) Kucij of Schenectady and nephew Foster Kucij. He is also survived by his loving in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, lifelong friends and cherished colleagues. He will be missed by the many students who thought so highly of his classroom skills.

Noah was a gentle, kind, and generous man who was full of love and life. He had a quick sense of humor and a contagious laugh. He possessed an open mind and an open heart. He understood the beauty of eating an apple under the tree he picked it from in the orchard. He wanted to know the story of that tree and he wanted to share that experience with those he loved. He was a loving uncle to Foster and an eager lifelong learner.

Noah's passions included gardening, cooking, teaching, creating, jogging, assisting immigrants and enjoying the company of dear friends. He excelled at all these activities but none more than fathering Matilda. He cherished the time spent at his family's Adirondack camp in Johnsburg, NY, where he and some friends had added a 10 x 12' writer's cabin next to his favorite brook.

Noah will be cremated. A memorial service with music, poetry and Noah stories will be announced in Schenectady later this spring. The family will however, hold a visitation for family and friends on Tuesday, April 11th from 4 to 7 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY.

In lieu of flowers those wishing to honor Noah’s memory may contribute to an education fund for Matilda. Donations may be made out to Matilda Kucij 529 account and mailed to Corey Cramer @ 363 Quail Street, Albany, NY 12208 or to her Venmo @matildakucij
