Nicolina "Nickie" Battaglia, 93, of Rotterdam passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday December 5, 2025 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late James and Nancy (Niceforo) Saraco.
She was a homemaker. Nicolina was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church; she also was a member of the Ladies of the Rotterdam Elks and Rotterdam Senior Citizens.
Nicolina was a kind and gentle soul who never said a bad word about anyone. She always wanted people to be at peace. Nicolina cherished her grandson Anthony and her sisters and family always came first. She always treated both her and her husband’s family as one big family.
She is predeceased by her husband James A. Battaglia and her sisters Jospehine Massaroni and Rosemary Saraco.
Nicolina is survived by her son James J. Battaglia, her daughter Nancy L.Battaglia her sister Nancy Barry and her grandson Anthony Rocissano.
Funeral Services for Nicolina will be on Thursday December 11, 2025 at 11am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 1255 Pleasant Street Schenectady. Calling hours will be Thursday morning from 8:30-10:30 at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady.
Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Church in Schenectady.
Contributions can be made in Nicolina’s memory to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church or St. Luke’s Church Food Pantry.
