Nicholas T Bonafede

April 13, 1924 — January 15, 2017

Nicholas T. Bonafede, 92, passed away early Sunday morning January 15th at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born and educated in Schenectady, Nicholas was the son of the late Michael and Nicolena (Bartolotta) Bonafede and a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. A World War II Air Force Veteran, Nicholas retired as an electronics technician from the General Electric Company after 45 years of service. He had also worked at KNOLLS during his time the General Electric. A member of the GE Quarter Century Club and the Knights of Columbus, Nicholas enjoyed woodworking, ship building hunting and especially fishing. Predeceased by his son Michael E. Bonafede and his brothers Joe and Roy Bonafede, Nicholas is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sarah P. (Bergeron) Bonafede, his children; Patricia Bonafede of Eustes, Fl., Linda A. DeLuke of Rotterdam, Kathryn A. Benedict of Clifton Park and Thomas A. Bonafede (Kim) of Amsterdam, grandchildren: Jamie, Desiree, Jared, Andrea, Brandon, Chandra, Danielle and Michael and several great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday January 20th at 1 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. A visitation for Nicholas will be held at the funeral home from 12 to 1 pm prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in St Joseph's Cemetery. Contribution may be made in Nicholas memory to the Schenectady City Mission , 425 Hamilton Street, Schenectady, NY 12305 or to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302
