Mrs Dorothy C Benson

Dorothy C. Benson, 87, died on Saturday, October 16 at St Peter's Hospice Inn in Albany surrounded by her family. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Helen (Fitzner) Suchocki. A lifelong resident of the Capital District, she was a mental health therapy aid for O.D. Heck in Niskayuna for 12 years and a former member of St. John the Baptist Church. Dorothy is survived by her children, Theodore Benson of Albany, Thomas Benson (JoAnn) of Schenectady, Patricia Renna of Glenville and Dorothy C. Benson of Jersey City, NJ, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. She was also predeceased by her 4 sisters. The family would like to thank the medical and other healthcare professionals who provided Dorothy with excellent and compassionate care, specifically, Dr. Roger Malebranche, Dr. Stewart Silvers, Dr. Christian Gasson, the staff of the fifth floor of Julie Blair Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and the staffs of St. Peter's Hospital and St. Peter's Hospice Inn. A memorial graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Rotterdam on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Contributions may be made in Dorothy's memory to the Albany Medical Center Children's Hospital, 43 New Scotland Ave, Albany, NY 12208.
