Guilderland

Mildred (Macko) Polsik passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 8, 2026, at 5:00 PM in Guilderland, NY.

Affectionately known as “Milly” by her family and friends, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit touched all who knew her. She lived a life centered on family, compassion, and Christian faith, always offering love, wisdom, and support to those around her.

Mildred was born on August 25, 1930, to Anna and John Macko in Yonkers. She married Louis Polsik on November 26, 1950, and shared a lifetime full of love, faith, and memories with him. Together, Mildred and Louis raised two children, daughter Laura and son Gary. They enjoyed participating in athletic activities, family gatherings, and world travel after raising their children.

Milly was a social butterfly who loved to dance and had an angelic singing voice that brought joy to those around her. Milly was a proud member of the Schenectady MeloDears, a singing troupe where she shared her love of music and friendship with fellow members. Her vibrant personality and loving spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was always dressed to the nines and was known by the colorful bows she wore in her hair.

Mildred was also a proud member of St. Madeleine Sophie Catholic Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and shared her deep Christian faith with generations of children and families.

Mildred worked as a secretary in the Bursar’s Office for University at Albany, where she was known for her dedication, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Mildred was preceded to eternal life by her beloved husband, Louis Polsik, and her eleven brothers and sisters.

In her later years, Milly resided at Avila Retirement Community before moving to Teresian House after a fall in the last year of her life required more intensive medical care. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the special people who helped Milly and cared for her daily needs in her final years, especially the Teresian House staff of the 3rd and 6th floors, her in-home care professionals, Nancy, Trish, and Kim.

Mildred is survived by her son, Gary Polsik; her daughter, Laura Tario, and son-in-law, Joseph Tario Sr.; her grandsons, Joseph Tario, Joshua Tario and his wife Amy, Jeffrey Tario and his wife Jennifer, and Jonathan Tario and his wife Sheray; her three great-grandchildren, Kathryn Tario, Hudson Tario, and Tobias Tario; and her many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Mildred's Life will be Saturday June 27, 2026, at 11am at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Visitation from 10-11am prior.

Interment to follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

May she rest in eternal peace and enjoy the reward of her well lived Christian life.
