Michael B Parente

Michael B. Parente, 86, of Ballston Lake passed away Tuesday April 8, 2008 at St. Clares Hospital with his family at his side. Born in Benevento, Italy on September 29, 1921, he was the son of the late Luigi and Rosina (Todino) Parente. Michael attended the Institute Lyceum in Benevento, Italy and the Institute of Foreign Languages in Naples, Italy. He came to the US in 1939 and was employed for the ALCO in Schenectady as a Machinist for 29 years, later becoming a Union Representative. Michael also worked for the Schenectady Municipal Housing Authority for 18 years administering the Section 8 Program, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Sons of Italy for 50 years and held many offices and chaired many events. Michael was a member of the Rotterdam Elks. He was a member also of the Republican Club. He supported the Republican party of Schenectady County and introduced the candidates to the residents of Schenectady. Michael knew everybody and every body knew him. He is predeceased by one brother Anthony Parente and one sister Doris Muzio. Michael is survived by his loving wife Barbara Rolfe Parente whom he married December 10, 1977, one son Michael L. Parente of Palatine Bridge,NY, one daughter Rose Davidson ( Fred) of Rotterdam, two brothers John Parente of Rotterdam and Lou Parente of Mechanicville, also survived by 6 Grandchildren Kathleen O'Beirne ( Shawn), James Davidson ( Dierdra), Michael Parente, Ann Parente, Eric Parente and Anthony Parente as well as 5 Great Grandchildren Frederick, Danyelle , Kelsey and Jenna Davidson and Matthew O'Beirne as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Private at the Convenience of the family.
