Mathew Joseph Poplawski

Mathew J. Poplawski, 34, of Schenectady, New York, passed away on October 20, 2023, in Ithaca New York as a result of an automobile accident while helping someone in need. His final act was one of kindness and compassion and so true to his spirit.

Mathew was born In Albany, New York on April 26,1989. He is the loving son of David and Kristy (Vinson) Poplawski.

He graduated from SUNY Albany with a degree in philosophy and remained a student of thought and introspection. He worked for the NYS Department of Tax and Finance, where he was able to spend years working alongside his family. Mathew loved nature, hiking, rock climbing, opossums, spicy foods, his family and friends, and his cat.

He leaves behind his father David (Lisa), his mother Kristy, brother Joshua, nephew Jacob and his mother Christina, sister Amanda, brother-in-law Mark, nieces Laney and Alexandra, and his cat Virginia. He also leaves behind his aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and many beloved friends.

Mathew was predeceased by his grandparents Nancy and Chet Poplawski and Richard and Elaine Vinson.

He loved beyond measure and was loved equally in return. He will be missed endlessly.

Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5-7PM at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. A Celebration of Mathew’s life will be held on Saturday at 10AM at the funeral home

Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
