Mary Ellen Scott, 73, of Rotterdam passed away at home on Monday May 12, 2025. Born in Star Lake, NY, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Susan (Cryder) Hickey.
Mary Ellen graduated from Harrisville Central School and SUNY Morrisville.
She worked in retail for Trans World Entertainment for over twenty-five years. Mary Ellen was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Rotterdam. She was a member of the church choir, Rosary Society, and volunteered at many church functions. Mary Ellen was also a member of the Rotterdam Senior Citizens.
Mary Ellen loved her cats and dogs, the outdoors, feeding the birds, gardening, and donating to several animal and other organizations. She enjoyed watching sports, was a Buffalo Bills fan, and loved going to the casino. Mary Ellen’s greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and grandpets.
She is predeceased by her husband David Scott and her brother William Hickey.
Mary Ellen is survived by her children Christina Rulison (Ken) and Joseph Scott (Sarah), her grandchildren Addison, Elizabeth and Benjamin, her sister in laws Barbara DeOrazio (Russell), Lillian Long and Nancy Webber (Michael), her brother-in-law John Scott (Jocelyn) as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Mass to celebrate Mary Ellen’s life will be on Monday, May 19, 2025 at 11am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 210 Princetown Road. Calling hours will be Sunday afternoon from 2-4PM at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady.
Interment in St. Cyril’s Cemetery in Rotterdam.
