Mary Irene Marra

Mary Irene Marra, 61, of Schenectady passed away at home on Tuesday May 10, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Orleans, she was the daughter of the late Donald Eichmeyer and Marjory (Feeney) Eichmeyer of Schenectady. Irene was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and the Schenectady County Cooperative Program for Nursing. She was employed as an LPN for 37 years at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. She truly enjoyed being a nurse and helping others. She was such a kind person with a heart of gold. Irene was a member of the Church of St. Adalbert in Schenectady. She enjoyed shopping and was an avid follower of the QVC shopping channel. Irene also enjoyed her trips to the casinos. She loved being a grandmother "Gammy" and spending time with her grandkids. She is survived by her loving husband David L. Marra of Schenectady, her Mother Marjory Eichmeyer of Schenectady, two sons Jason D. Marra (Darcy) of Guilderland and Scott E. Marra of Schenectady, one brother John E. Eichmeyer of Saratoga, one sister Donna T. Eichmeyer of New York City, also survived by 3 Grandchildren Briana, Kyla and Aidan. Funeral Services for Irene will be Monday 8:15AM at the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady followed by a Mass at 9AM at the Church of St. Adalbert 550 Lansing Street Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours will be Sunday evening 5-8PM at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
