Mary P Van Loan

Mary P. Van Loan 89, of Burnt Hills died Tuesday evening July 7, 2009 at Albany Medical Center from injuries suffered in a July 3, 2009 accident. Born and educated in Schenectady, she was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Fotheringhan) Petersen. For more then 40 years Mary worked for Union College retiring as print shop manager. She was a member of the Burnt Hills United Methodist Church where she was an active volunteer for many years. Mary enjoyed Antiquing, camping and going to the shows at Proctors and SPAC. Mary was predeceased in the early 1990's by her husband Casper J. Van Loan and was also predeceased by a brother Peter Petersen and sister, Marin Shaw. Survivors include her brother Thomas Petersen Jr.(Florence) of Stillwater and Florida , a sister, Margaret Steenrod (Irving) of Bloomingrove, NY, a brother-in-law, Bernard Shaw of Schenectady and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 15, 2009 at 11am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10 to 11 am prior to the funeral service. Interment in Athens Rural Cemetery.
