Mary Jane Tytko

December 8, 1946 — October 5, 2024

Mary Jane “Mimi” Tytko, of Schenectady, NY, passed away suddenly on October 5, 2024, at the age of 77.

A graduate of Schalmont High School, and Cornell University, Mimi worked for many years in the healthcare field in upstate New York, including at Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) and as Director of Medical Records at Ellis Hospital.

Mimi loved horseback riding and enjoyed competing as a freshwater sailor, winning sailing events at the national and local level over the years. She was a voracious reader, expert crossword puzzle and Sudoku solver, and excellent cook. Mimi was curious by nature, loved learning, was quick witted and always compassionate, patient, kind, and generous of spirit to all. She is missed deeply.

Predeceased by her beloved parents, Dr. Michael John and Mary Elizabeth (Harris) Tytko, Mimi is survived by her sister Cynthia Tytko of Schenectady, NY, her brother Stephen Tytko (Donna) of Schenectady, NY, her niece Heather (Jesse) Middelkoop of Schenectady, NY, her great-nieces, Mia and Alexandra Middelkoop, her nephew, Justin Tytko of Durham, NY and her great-niece Kailynn Wynia. Mimi is also survived her feline companion of many years, Molly.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mimi’s memory to The Community Hospice or The Salvation Army.

Funeral services for Mimi will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
