Mary Jane Stacey

September 28, 1931 — August 5, 2024

Mary Jane Stacey “Jane” 92, passed away peacefully at home on August 5, 2024. Jane was born September 28, 1931 to Thomas Scanlon and Ellen Scaglione in South Beach, Staten Island, NY and was the oldest of 7 children. She is predeceased by her parents and her dear husband Joseph S. Stacey along with her two sons Thomas Stacey and Edward Stacey. She is survived by her brother Jack (Loretta) Tews, son Joseph (Diane) Stacey, daughter Ellen (Dave) Parke, daughter in law Chris Stacey, grandchildren Janie (Willie) Rodriguez, Joseph (Michelle) Stacey, David (Mary) Parke, Megan (Joel) Leight, Sarah (Geoff) Heidig, Sydney Brinker and great grandchildren Ellene (Nick) Casertano, Jude Leight, Gavin Stacey, Madilyn Leight, Teghan Stacey, Jonas Leight and Kathryn Brinker. In addition, Jane had numerous nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.

Jane grew up in Brooklyn, NY and was very close to all of her brothers and sisters. Jane worked for the New York Telephone company for many years after graduating high school. In 1950, she began a relationship with her childhood friend Joseph S. Stacey and they were later married in September 1953. Jane began an intensive study of the Bible and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1966 and was active in her ministry for over 50 years. She was most recently a member of the Clifton Park Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses but had also been a member of the Tamaqua, PA congregation and prior to that the Sunset Congregation in Brooklyn, NY.

Jane was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Jane enjoyed keeping up with all her friends and family and loved to talk on the phone and receive visits. She was soft spoken but well respected and always gracious and quick to provide praise, support, thanks, words of encouragement, and an “I Love You”. Despite experiencing much loss during her life, she never ever complained or became bitter, but always had a good word to share with others. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank all of those who took great care of Jane at Ellis Hospital, the Saratoga Community Hospice and the private duty care in the home.
