Mary Susan Dayton

Mary Susan Dayton, known to all as Sue, passed away after a brief illness. Sue’s beloved husband K. Dan Dayton predeceased her in 2025, and she is survived by her son John (Christine) Valachovic and their children Zane (Karina), Jake (Maggie Doolin), and Luke (Cheyenne), and her daughter Amy (Joseph) Mulyca and their sons Travis (Briana) and Jack (Jessica). Also, her stepchildren Kerry Dayton and her daughter Kelsey, Courtney Chimene and her daughter Sierra, and Kevin (Karen) Dayton and their children Connor and Rylee. Sue also is survived by her brother William (Margerie) Bernaski. Born in Schenectady County to William and Mary Viola Bernaski in 1942, Sue spent her life living in the Schenectady area and was a longtime Special Education teacher for BOCES. Sue was a member of the second graduating class at Schalmont Central School and was a proud graduate of SUNY Geneseo. Sue also leaves behind two dear friends that helped her extensively in her later years, Ann Krawczak and Amanda Roe. Services will be held at Bond Funeral Home in Schenectady on October 26th from 4-6pm.
