Marthine Cummings

Marthine “Marty” Cummings, 76 of East Greenbush departed this life peacefully on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. Marty was born on September 26, 1944 to Johnnie Mae and Willie C. Roberts in Camilla, GA. She later relocated to Albany, NY and graduated from Phillip Schuyler High School.

After graduation, Marty began a thirty year career at Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation. After retiring from the Corporation she worked at MetLife Insurance, retiring after ten years. To know Marty was to love her. She had a great sense of fashion, an infectious smile, and a zest for traveling. She was a long time active member of Union Missionary Baptist Church in Albany, NY, serving on the Missionary Committee, coordinating the annual Thanksgiving Basket program, and attending Bible Study among many other church involvements.

Marty was dedicated to uplifting the lives of others through service, unmatched kindness, and unending friendship. In short, Marty Cummings simply loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was a devoted mother to her beautiful daughters, Stephanie and Casey, who were her pride and joy; a beloved sister, auntie, and friend to many who will sorely miss her.

three brothers: John L. King of Silver Spring, MD, Moses L. Price (Marielle) of West Hart-
ford, CT, and Arthur James Bell (Gladys) of Lakeland, FL; and host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Marty was predeceased by her parents;brothers: Wilbert C. Roberts and Louis C. Roberts; sisters: Martha Cadenhead, Hattie Morris, and Sylvia Dandridge; and nephew, Jeremy Price.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning, February 1, 2021 at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, New York. Calling hours will be 9:00 to 10 a.m. prior to the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Memory Garden Cemetery.
