Martha Rizzo Martha (Ciaravino) Rizzo of Rotterdam, NY died peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center in Schenectady, New York. Martha was born on May 28th, 1924 in Grand Gorge, New York and was the daughter of the late Carlo and Antonina (LoPresti) Ciaravino. She spent her childhood in Grand Gorge and was a member of the school band and chorus. She graduated from Grand Gorge Central School in 1942. She lived most of her adult life in Schenectady and Rotterdam, NY. She was married on January 19th, 1947 to Michael Rizzo Sr. at Saint Anthony's Church in Schenectady. In her lifetime, she was a homemaker, employed by General Electric and worked in the Two Guys Store shoe department. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening and playing games with her family and friends. She loved cooking and baking Italian foods especially her delicious Italian cookies. She loved traveling to places in the United States and took trips to Italy, France, England and Scotland. Martha was kind and caring to all that knew her and loved her family. Martha was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Rotterdam. Martha was predeceased by her loving husband Michael Rizzo and sister Jean Faraci. She is survived by two sons Michael Rizzo Jr. (Ann) of Guilderland, NY, John Rizzo (Janet) of Princetown, NY and one daughter Toni Cowie (Peter) of Rotterdam. Martha is also survived by sisters Mamie Gockel, Virginia Wickham, Lena Rowe and Mary Tubiolo and several grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning, May 3rd, at 8:45 a.m. at the Bond Funeral Home on Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, followed at 9:30 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Princetown Road, Rotterdam. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday evening, May 2nd, at the Bond Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Internment is at the Most Holy Redeemer Mausoleum, Troy-Schenectady Road, Niskayuna. Martha's family would like to thank the Kingsway staff for all their caring support over the past year. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Martha's name, can be made to the Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 or to a charity of one's choice.
