Marlene F. Budka

Marlene F. Budka, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 4, 2023.

Marlene was born in Albany, N.Y. on August 17, 1935, to the late Bertrand and Laura (Rennie)Yetto.

She was a lifelong resident of Schenectady.

After graduating from Draper High School in 1954, she worked as a receptionist for Sealy Mattress Co. until she got married in 1956. Marlene then did private daycare in her home and eventually became a licensed daycare provider for Schenectady County, taking care of children for 38 years.

Marlene’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed reading, visiting with neighbors and was a huge lover of animals. She was the best Mom and grandmother and will truly be missed.

Marlene was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Vincent L. Budka, and her sister, Helen (Yetto) Shaw (Robert H.).

She is survived by her three children, son Vincent J. Budka (Sharon), daughter Deborah L. (Budka) Oudt (Bradley) and daughter Lori A.(Budka) Gizara (Paul). She is also survived by six grandchildren: Tara (Budka) Fitzgerald (Charles) and Vincent Budka, Matthew Oudt and Kaitlyn (Oudt) Van Dyke (Jon) and Christian Gizara and Hannah (Gizara) Robinson (Keith), great grandchildren: Kelly and Molly Fitzgerald and Amelia and Norah Van Dyke, niece Barbara Shaw and several other nieces and nephews.

With heartfelt gratitude, our family would like to thank the Eddy Senior Care PACE and St.Peter's Community Hospice programs for the support they provided to help make it possible to care for Marlene at home. Their kind and caring staff always went above and beyond, and for that we are forever grateful.

Funeral Services for Marlene will be on Saturday December 9, 2023, at 11:30AM at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady.  Visitation will be from 9:30-11:30 prior to the service.

Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Schenectady.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
