Marilyn Lois Bond (Fetter)

Marilyn L. Bond, 91, of South Daytona, passed away on January 11, 2018, with family by her side at Grace Manor in Port Orange. She was born Jan.26, 1926, in Schenectady, N.Y., daughter of the late Charles H. and Elsie (Lange) Fetter. She graduated from Scotia High School in 1944 and then received her R.N. diploma from the Nathan Littauer Hospital School of Nursing in Gloversville, N.Y. She worked at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady prior to her marriage to Romine R. (Dick) Bond on June 25, 1949. Marilyn was a loving and devoted mother to her four children, dividing her time between school programs, her church and many community activities. In 1967 she was one of the very first social service workers to establish a Resident and Family Social Service Department at the Hallmark Extended Care Facility in Schenectady. It became a model program in the Tri-City area around Albany, N.Y., many years before such a service became state-mandated. In 1979 she retired as director of the Social Service Department at Hallmark and later became a secretary in her husband's family-owned funeral home in Schenectady. Having vacationed in Daytona Beach for many years, they retired to this area in 1992. She became an active member of the United Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon and on other committees. Through the church, she volunteered at the Halifax Urban Ministries. Marilyn loved her family and friends, enjoyed traveling, gardening and the OG Girls Organ Club. She was preceded in death by her husband. Dick, after 55 years of marriage. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Susan and Leonard Stuart of Goffstown, N.H.; daughter Donna Bond and companion Thomas Todd of South Daytona, Fl.; daughter and son-in-law Carol and David Pahl of Glenville, N.Y., and son and daughter-in-law Romine Jr. (Rick) and Eva Bond of Port Orange, Fl.; brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Anne Fetter of Scotia, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Melissa Stuart Brule and husband Ben of Manchester, N.H., Mark Stuart of Goffstown, N.H., and Matthew Bond of Port Orange, Fl.; a great-grandson, Bradley Brule of Manchester, N.H.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 20th at 4 pm at the Cardwell, Baggett & Summers Funeral Home, 310 Big Tree Road, South Daytona.
