Marilyn (Wait) Brownell entered into the waiting arms of her lord on May 10, 2006 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Marilyn was born in Schenectady,NY on February 20, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Florence (Robinson) and Howard Wait. She grew up in Burnt Hills and graduated from the former Frank Stevens Central in Ballston Lake where she attended all 12 grades. Marilyn graduated from Maria college with a nursing degree in 1982. She was married in 1957 to the love of her life. Bill. They resided and raised their family in Rotterdam from 1971.Marilyn was formerly employed at General Electric and Wade Tours. She was employed for more than 20 years until her retirement for Doctors Ritterband, Schwartz and Wiener, first as a Medical Assistant and then as a registered Nurse specializing as a certified Diabetes Educator. Marilyn passionately lived the Christian life.She was an active member of the Burnt Hills, Broadway, and Fisher(Rotterdam) United Methodist Churches. She was a certified lay speaker and was a co-director of the Albany District Lay Speakers. Marilyn made three trips to NovaDescoberta, Brazil through the volnteers in Mission program. She was a member of the pastoral care Team at Ellis Hospltal where she also served on the volunteer Board of Directors. Marilyn was also active in the stephen Ministry.Among her community involvement Marilyn was a member of the local Medical Assistants organization and a facilitator of the Reach to Recovery group in the city. Marilyn is mourned by her beloved husband, William Brownell, of Rotterdam and her children Glen Brownell of Galway, and Janice Brownell and Karen S.(Kenneth) Lancto both of Rotterdam. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren william Brownell, Jeremy Brownell, Shane Brownell, Kenneth Lancto, Katelyn Lancto, Kristen Lancto, and Kyle Lancto, a sister Doris Compton of Daytona, Florida, a brother Rev. Kenneth (Ruth) wait of Harleysville, Pa. and eleven nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Ernest Wait, her sisters Grace Erma Barnes and Della Bonanno, and her daughter-in-law Joan Brownell.Family and friends are invited to celebrate Marilyn's life at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY on Saturday May 13, 2006 from 5 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be conducted at Rotterdam (Fisher) United Methodist Church, Curry Road and Helderberg Avenue in Rotterdam on Sunday May 14, 2006 at 4 pm with burial in memorys garden on Monday morning May 15, 2006 at 10 am. A special thank you to the Rotterdam Volunteer Ambulance Service and the staff at Ellis hospital, Ellis Long Term Care, and New York Oncology and Hematology Cancer Center and Dr. Jacobs.
