Marie L. Slater, 78, entered into eternal glory on Sunday, August 19th surrounded by her family and hand in hand with her loving husband, Floyd "Skip" of 60 years. Born January 21st, 1940 to the late Ike and Marie Hulett, she enjoyed a fun-filled, well-loved, and well-traveled childhood with late sister Audrey Swart, and surviving brothers Warren (Lorraine) Hulett and Donald Hulett. Attending over a dozen schools, a divine appointment landed her at Schoharie High School, meeting her soulmate, Skip. They wed on July 19th, 1958 and their legacy of love, devotion, and adoration for one another began. Marie lived a full life, led by her faith in Jesus and unconditional love for others. Lovers and best friends, she and Skip did everything together including countless cruises, trips to Florida, Arizona, and California, many Yankee games, numerous races, continual car rides, and of course church each Sunday. Marie served as a reader, in the choir, secretary of the Altar Rosary Society and a Eucharistic minister. Her two sons, Floyd "Butch" (Debbie) and Gary (Mary) were her pride and joy. Marie was not only mom, but number one fan for countless little league, basketball, and softball games. Enjoying a 25 year career at KAPL, she continued to impact others with her kind and gentle soul - to know Marie was to love her. Four grandchildren, Gina Kopczynski (Matt), Floyd "Micky" Slater, Ashlyn Slater, Ryan Gallagher, and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Kopczynski, Alarick Slater, and Evie Marie Slater, were next in line to receive the blessing of Marie as their grandmother. There was not a concert, basketball game, or school event ever missed, or an "I Love You" unspoken. Marie leaves a legacy to her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends - not just in the words she said, but in the way, she lived: gently and generously with love, kindness, and respect to all she encountered. She handled all that came her way with grace and faith, even her final trial, Alzheimer's. Marie lived life on this earth with no regrets in an exemplary and extraordinary way. She said many times, "My bags are packed for whenever the Lord is ready to take me!" She is now enjoying eternity with Him and those gone before - she'd love to see you there, too.
