Marie Sue Grethen

Marie "Sue" Grethen passed away on January 1, 2016, due to coronary complications. She was 82 at the time, and she would have hated it, dying so young. Marie attended Cornell University and Albany Business College. It was while working at the telephone office of Western Electric that she met Don Grethen, her second husband. Since Don's death in 1994, she embraced her independence, but loved him and missed him to the very end. Marie was interested in collecting, was a voracious reader, loved to shop, eat chocolate, watch football, spend time with her grandchildren, and watch birds from her deck. She had a wicked sense of humor and loved a good laugh. She was breathtakingly thoughtful and generous. Marie will be missed by so many people whose lives she touched, but especially by her family: daughters Donna & Kim Grethen, sons-in-law Paul Tong & Rodd McLaughlin, and grandsons Leigh Tong & Gunnar Grethen-McLaughlin.
