Marian H. Smith, 88, formerly of Rotterdam, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam. Born in Harpersfield, NY, Marian was the daughter of the late Henry and Dorothy (Wickham) Hornbeck. Graduating from Stamford Central School and the Albany Business College, Marian worked in the drafting department for General Electric for 43 years before her retirement. Marian is a former member of Harpersfield Methodist Church and Rotterdam United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the GE Quarter Centrury Club, Single Squares Square Dancing Club and a volunteer for the Red Cross. Marian is predeceased by her sisters Ellen Hornbeck Carretta and Velma Hornbeck DuBois, along with her Aunt Evelyn Wickham Barkley, sister-in-law Bette Hornbeck and dear friend Salvatore Esposito. Marian is survived by her brother Frank Hornbeck of Stamford, NY, also nieces and nephews- Thomas Hornbeck, Joseph Hornbeck, Mariellen Hornbeck Myers, John Hornbeck, Diane DuBois Bonner, David DuBois, Wayne DuBois, Nicci DuBois Dick, Henry Carretta and Maria Carretta Triggs, as well as several cousins. Funeral services will be Monday April 2, 2012 at 11am at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave. Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A calling hour will precede the service from 10-11am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Marian's memory to a charity of one's choice.
