Marian E Allen (Blanchard)

Marian E. Allen, 93, of Schenectady passed away at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home on Tuesday May 23, 2017 with her loving family at her side. Born in Oneonta, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Alice (McGowan) Blanchard. She was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady. Marian was employed, as an account clerk for the highway department for the Town of Rotterdam for 12 years. She was a member of the former Calvary Baptist Church in Schenectady. Marian later joined the Tabernacle Baptist Church here in the city. Marian was active in the community. She was president of the Draper PTA. Marian was also active in the Rotterdam Boys Club, serving on the board and the ladies auxiliary for 30 years as its chair person. Marian was also instrumental in organizing the Boys Club Golf Tourneys and Charity Balls each year. Marian was an avid golf and tennis player. She was a member of the Lady Bugs League for over 40 years and the Schenectady Racquet Club. The family would like to extend a thank you to the Bellevue Wing at Kingsway Arms for their compassionate care of Marian. She is predeceased by her husband James E. Allen, her son James C. Allen, her brother William Blanchard and her sister Mildred Bronk. Marian is survived by her loving daughter Marilyn A. Wagschall (Joseph) of Schenectady, her two loving grandchildren Kristen Sheerin (Damon) and Nicole Wagschall and her three loving great grandchildren Morgan, Troy and Addyson Sheerin. Funeral Services for Marian will be Tuesday May 30, 2017 at 11AM at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. A calling hour will be from 10-11AM prior to the service. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park in Colonie. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Marian's memory to the American Cancer Society 1 Penny Lane Latham, NY 12110.
