Maria A Calderon

Maria A. Calderon, 85, of Schenectady passed away on Thursday May 10, 2018 at the Joan Nicole Prince Home in Scotia surrounded by her loving family. Born in El Salvador, she was the daughter of the late Eulofio and Jesus (Martinez) Calderon. Maria was a home maker. She was a single mom who raised two children in a hard environment and did a great job doing it! She was fondly called Mama Tona. Maria loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was outgoing and had the best personality. Her Catholic faith kept her strong and she showed great devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Maria was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Glenville. Maria loved her soap operas and watching them on the various Hispanic channels available. She was predeceased by one grandson Edgar Calderon whom she loved dearly. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Meg, Kristine, Emily, Kim and Cecilia from Hospice for their outstanding care and compassion for mom. Maria is survived by her two loving children Nuria Wheeler (Michael Diemer) of Schenectady and German Calderon (Araceli) of Stafford, VA, one brother Alonzo Calderon of El Salvador. She is also survived by three grandchildren Silvia Euriques(Renato), German Calderon Jr. (Gresy Bustamante) and William Calderon (An) as well as two great grandchildren Goliath Calderon and Lorenzo Antonio Euriques. Funeral Services for Maria will begin Tuesday at 9:30am at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady followed by a Mass at 10:30am at Immaculate Conception Church 400 Saratoga Road Glenville. Visitation will be Monday evening 5-7PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Cyril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam.
