Margaret M. Della Rocco, 55, of Berne passed away on Monday March 31, 2014 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Albany, Margaret was one of ten children and the daughter of Elizabeth (Shellenback) and the late Dr. Thomas Riedy. After attending the Vincentian Institute and receiving her forestry degree from Paul Smith's College, Margaret went to work for Albany County, first working in Soil & Water Conservation District for over 10 years and later working for the Highway Department for the past 20 years. She loved the outdoors and the natural world, planting over one million trees throughout her life. Margaret was a member of St. Matthew's Church in Voorheesville. She actively supported the church, as well as the regional food bank, 4H and the Altamont Fair fine arts show. An avid baker, sewer and knitter; Margaret raised her own sheep, using their wool to make her own yarn and designed patterns for her knitting. She also loved the winter season and was always thrilled to bundle up and enjoy the snow. Her family was the most important thing in her life. Besides her father, Margaret is predeceased by one brother, Christopher J. Riedy. Survivors include her husband, Thomas F. Della Rocco, Sr., their children, Thomas F. Della Rocco, Jr., Taylor M. Della Rocco, Gale N. Della Rocco (Gregory Cramer) and Claire N. Della Rocco (Jared Young) all of Berne as well as her mother Elizabeth (Shellenback) Riedy of Slingerlands. She is also survived by her siblings; Thomas Riedy (Nancy) of CT, Frank Riedy (Victory) of Slingerlands, Michael Riedy (Sharon) of Schenectady, Lisa Gay (Robert) of CT, Rory Riedy (Kathryn Griggs) of Albany, Patricia Riedy of Albany, Nadine Little (Mark) of Glenville, and Antoinette O'Donnell (Paul) of Gansevoort, and many nieces and nephews, and a great niece and great nephew. Funeral services will be Friday April 4, 2014 at 10 am at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, followed at 11am at St. Matthew's Church, Mountainview St., Voorheesville, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. A visitation will be held for family and friends Thursday, April 3, at the funeral home from 3pm-6pm. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Margaret's name can be made to the Regional Food Bank of NENY, 965 Albany Shaker Rd, Latham, NY 12110.
