Margaret (Peggy) J. Mulyca passed away on October 2, 2023 at Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scotia, NY. She was born on May 9, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois, but has been a resident of Scotia since a very young age when the family moved into this area. She was one of four children of the late Harvey N. and Elizabeth (Ferrier) Price. After graduating from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School in 1959, she worked at a number of companies until settling down at Price Chopper. She retired from there in 2013.
Margaret was married to William Mulyca in 1976 and became the mother of two sons. For many years she was an active member of East Glenville Community Church, singing in the choir and occasionally singing solos. She and her family then became one of a few families that left East Glenville Comm. Church to help start Saratoga Chapel, a "daughter church" of her church, and then, after moving to Duanesburg/Rotterdam area, Margaret became an active member of Duanesburg Reformed Presbyterian Church, where she continued using her beautiful singing voice in the worship team and occasional solos.
She is survived by her husband, William D. Mulyca; her two sons, Craig Mulyca, and Robert Mulyca; and her three siblings, Robert Price, Eileen Bakker, and David Price.
Margaret loved listening to music (always singing along) and singing to bless others. As a hobby she loved playing her personal organ at home. But these weren't her only pastimes. She participated in a number of other activities at various times during her lifetime. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking, reading, ice skating, swimming and waterskiing (slalom), reaching the swimming instruction level of lifeguard, and performing feats while "waterskiing" using a plain wooden disc instead of waterskies. She helped her father build the family summer home in the Adirondacks and loved to go there with the family to enjoy the outdoors. She was in a bowling league for a number of years, and was a very talented artist in pastels, ink drawing, leatherwork and ceramics.
A visitation will be held Monday, October 9 from 6-8 pm at the Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, New York, 12306. Her funeral will take place at Duanesburg Reformed Presbyterian Church, 6512 Western Turnpike, Duanesburg, NY 12056, followed by the burial in the church's cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret's name to Wycliffe Bible Translators Attention: Memorial Gifts in memory of Margaret Mulyca, P.O. Box 628200, Orlando, FL 32862. They can also be made using the internet by going to Wycliffe's website, www.wycliffe.org/donate.
