Marc Erwin McClaine, of Princetown, passed away peacefully at Stratton VA Medical Center on 1/27/2021 after a brief illness. Marc was born 10/24/1948 to the late Robert and Beverly (Saddlemire). Marc graduated from Schalmont High School in 1967. While at Schalmont, he was class president as a Junior, and a 4-year letterman on the football team, earning all-county 1st team award as a senior. Upon graduation, Marc enlisted in the Air Force where he trained to become a jet engine mechanic. Serving in Thailand and the Philippines during the Vietnam war, while also playing base football as a tight end, upon discharge he started a successful business, Today’s Windows and Siding.
Marc adored his time with family and countless friends. He was an avid outdoors man, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and was very proud of his vegetable garden. He was always willing to donate his time and talents to charities and people in need.
Besides his parents, Marc is predeceased by his step mother Charlotte McClaine and his sister in law JoAnn McClaine.
Marc is survived by his loving wife Carol (Lauritsen) McClaine whom he married May 4, 1972. His three loving children Ronni Edwards (Todd) of Princetown, Jeffrey McClaine, of Guilderland and Robert McClaine (Dawn) of Akron, NY, seven loving grandchildren- Dylan and Ryan Edwards, Marcus and Devon McClaine and Bryce, Olivia and Logan McClaine. He is also survived by two brothers Douglas McClaine of Princetown and Roger McClaine (Christine) of Princetown and one sister Jody Pitman (Roger) of Charlton as well as several nieces and nephews.
Due to the covid restrictions services for Marc at this time will be private. A Celebration of Marc’s life for all will be held at a later date.
Marc will be interred with military honors at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Marc’s memory to the Volunteer Service Affairs at the Stratton VA Medical Center 113 Holland Avenue Albany, NY 12208 or to the Wounded Warriors Project. Org.
