Lou-Ann L Marshall (O'Neill)

Lou-Ann L. Marshall, 65, of Rotterdam passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday May 5, 2017 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of Robert O'Neill of Schenectady and the late Angela (Malloy) O'Neill. As a child, Lou-Ann was member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Schenectady and is now a member of the Rotterdam United Methodist Church. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Lou-Ann was also employed as a dental assistant for Dr. Peter Coppola and for Dr. Michael Braff. Lou-Ann was affectionately known to all kids as Mama Lou and was also known as Mrs. Claus around the holidays. She was also known as the "probation officer" to her father. Lou-Ann enjoyed spending time with her daughters and spoiling her grandchildren. Lou-Ann was a great listener, was generous, and had a giving heart. It is through compassion for others and the spirit of serving others that Lou-Ann's memory will live on. Lou-Ann made it her lifelong duty to help others and impact as many people as possible and served as a volunteer in many community activities. She was a Draper Elementary PTO President, a girl scout leader for the Mohawk Valley Girl Scout Council, longtime volunteer for the Rotterdam Boys and Girls Clubs, a backstage mom and coordinator for the Mohonasen Masque, and a Color Guard and Marching Band "mom" for Mohonasen High School. In addition, Lou-Ann also volunteered at Proctors, Capital Rep and Schenectady Light Opera Company. In her spare time, she enjoyed genealogy, gardening, cross stitch, and time in the Adirondacks with a cup of tea and a good book. Besides her mom, she is predeceased by her brother Robert O'Neill. Besides her father, Lou-Ann is survived by her loving husband Jeffrey Marshall whom she married September 22, 1973, her three loving daughters Lynn Vincent (Joshua) of Rotterdam, Lori Giattino (Joseph) of Rotterdam, and Amanda Jo Wilsey (Johnathan) of Rensselaer. She is survived by 5 loving grandchildren: MacKenzie Cartier, Dakota Cartier, Piper Cartier, Jack Vincent, and Gunnar Wilsey. Lou-Ann is also survived by her sister in law Karen Peters (Robert), as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral Services for Lou-Ann will be on Thursday at 10AM at Rotterdam United Methodist Church 1915 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam. Calling Hours will be Wednesday from 4-8PM at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady. Interment will be in Viewland Cemetery in Rotterdam. Contributions can be made in Lou-Ann's memory to the Rotterdam United Methodist Church (1915 Helderberg Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12306) or to St. Paul's Episcopal Church (1911 Fairview Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12306) or to the American Diabetes Association (2 Pine West Plaza, Albany, NY 12205).
