Lois L. Askew

Lois L. Askew, 87, of Fultonville passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at the Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown. Born in Niskayuna, NY, she was the daughter of the late Keith and Emma (Squires) Johnson.

She was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School in Schenectady. Lois was employed by the Imperial Department Store in Schenectady and later at the Golub Corp in Rotterdam. She also worked for a period of time for the State Theatre in Schenectady where she met her beloved husband of 40 years.

Lois’ family was her greatest joy.  Lois graced our lives with her boundless love and will be remembered for her beautiful blue eyes and infectious smile.  She enjoyed collecting dolls and was an avid fan of Elvis.

She is predeceased by her husband Arthur Askew and her siblings David Johnson, Elsie Mestler, Betty Shoemaker, and Gloria Banks, her sons-in-law John Walsh Jr. and Barry Colliton as well as her dear friend Kathleen Thornton.

Lois is survived by her daughters Bette Walsh and Patricia Colliton (Jacob), her sisters Virginia Joy and Barbara Campbell, and her step-grandchildren Lisa Walsh, Eric Walsh and Wendy Walsh, her step-great grandchildren Louis DiManno, Nathan DiManno and Kaylee Broomhall. She also leaves behind her dear friend’s family Brooke Thornton and Dylan Maher as well as several nieces and nephews.

Lois’ children would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Wells Nursing Home for the care she received.

Funeral Services for Lois will be Saturday November 9, 2024 at 11 am at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. A visitation will be from 9-11 am prior to the service.

Interment will be in Schenectady Memorial Park in Rotterdam.
