Linwood Gholson (Smitty)

Linwood Gholson Smitty, 65, of Schenectady passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on Friday February 4, 2022. Born in Petersburg, Virginia, he was the son of Benjamin Leg and Dorothy Mae (Green) Gholson.

He was employed as a handyman for many years.

Linwood is predeceased by his longtime companion Elaine Davis, a brother Rodema Gholson and a brother Benjamin Frankie Gholson III.

He is survived by his four loving children Shanika Gholson, Victor Toomer, Linwood Gholson Jr. and Danielle Woodard, three brothers James Larry Gholson. Lawrence Freeman Gholson and Randy Wayne Gholson, two sisters Ruth C. Bell and Jacquelyn L. Gholson He is also survived by 8 grandchildren- Zaniah Gholson-Mosher, Auriella Moore, Ki-Myra Toomer, Jamier Cornell-DeGroat, Taykeme Griffith, Joshua DeGroat, Jocelyn DeGroat and Darius Cornell-DeGroat.

A Celebration of Linwood’s life will be Tuesday evening February 15, 2022 at 7PM at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Ave Schenectady. A Visitation will be held from 5-7PM prior to the service.
