Linda S Mayer

December 30, 1953 — August 15, 2018

Linda Sue Mayer on August 15th, 2018 crossed through St. Peters pearly gates, surrounded by her loving family. Linda was received into this world on December 30th 1953, to the late Robert and Beatrice (Clapper) DeLaMater. Where she lived in Rotterdam NY, went to Mohonasen High School and graduated in 1969. Linda was a caring friend, Mom, Grandma and Wife. Linda went to the first Woodstock. Her brother went to find her and bring her home. Her brother Russ Clapper found her among the ½ million people and they both stayed; enjoying the festival of peace and love. It was one of trillions of times Linda was free in mind and spirit. Now its her turn to go find her brother, who crossed over through the pearly gates in 1988. I know she will find him, where they can rejoice with family and friends who passed before them. Linda spent all of her life caring for others; where she left ever lasting memories for everyone she met. She worked as a CNA in places like Hallmark, O.D.Heck, Ellis skilled nursing, and Baptist Nursing home. Where she gave everyone the best care possible and treated them all as her own family. Linda loved to cook and everyone loved her cooking. Especially her lasagna! In 2011 due to an unforeseen illness Linda was no longer able to walk. One of her favorite past times became giving wheelchair rides to her grandchildren. They got lots of laughs and joy out of it; which made her very happy. Linda is survived by her husband of 30 years, David. Her 3 brothers Eric DeLaMater (Donna), Peter DeLaMater, and Robert DeLaMater (Nancy). She leaves behind her 5 children Todd Ritchie (Nicole), Paul Steenburg (Melissa), Seth Steenburg, Heather Mayer, and Adriana Mayer. She also leaves behind 8 Grandchildren and numerous niblings. A special thanks to all staff at Mountain Valley Hospice, in Gloversville NY. An extra special Thank you to Barbara Kilmartin as Linda and her family appreciated everything you did. Services will be private. Linda was an avid supporter of St. Jude's Children's Research and believed no child should have to suffer. In Lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude's in honor of her name.
