Lillian L Stellwagen

Lillian Lena (Roth) Stellwagen of Schenectady was born February 20, 1908 in the Bellevue section of Schenectady and passed away peacefully to her eternal heavenly home from Natural causes on June 17, 2007 after a brief stay at Dutch Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Lillian was the daughter of the late Charles and Louise (Lohner) Roth and was predeceased by her husband Edward Jacob Stellwagen in 1970, a son, Arthur Earl Stellwagen who died in the armed forces in 1955. Lillian was also predeceased by her sisters, Emily, Louise, Elisabeth and Margaret and her brother Charles. By Gods grace Lillian was born with a love for life and people. Her parents had her baptized in the Christian faith and she attended Immanuel Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School and loved God and teaching children his word, she was also a member of the Ladies Aid Society ,Altar Guild and made Biblical banners for Sunday School . Lily was one of God's Sweet caring and loving children on earth and will continue being that in her heavenly home, All thanks be to God and thank you Lily. In the 1920's Lillian worked for the New York telephone Company in Schenectady as a switchboard operator and also a health Instructor, traveling north to Glens Falls and South via Steamboat on the Hudson River to Kingston, Poughkeepsie, Newburgh and Goshen, NY On July 12, 1930 Lillian married Edward J. Stellwagen and became a loving housewife and mother of two sons Arthur born in 1934 and Neill born in 1940. God blessed her in many ways. She enjoyed cooking, baking and canning foods. She loved creating things with her hands via working with clay, braiding rugs, caning, reupholstering chairs, sewing, knitting, arts, crafts, painting, gardening and growing flowers. Survivors include her son ,Neil E. Stellwagen of Niskayuna, a cousin Mildred (Keller) Parks of Schenectady nephews; Robert Sullivan of TN, William Sullivan of MT., William Smith of TN, Harold Kirchner of FL, Earl Stellwagen of TX. And Larry Laurence of Schenectady, Nieces; Karen (Kirchner) Campbell of VA., Beverly Roth of Schenectady, Maureen (Roth) Reid, Judith (Stellwagen) Kenney of Fl. and Linda (Laurence) Hansell of NC. And several great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning June 21, 2007 at 11 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1850 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12309. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday evening June 20th from 6 to 8 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave, Schenectady, NY. Interment in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Flowers or contributions to Immanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1850 Union Street Schenectady, NY 12309 in Lily's memory would be greatly appreciated.
