Lewis W. Callahan

Lewis W. Callahan, 83, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026. Born on February 12, 1943, Lewis was a graduate of Draper High School and Schenectady Community College. He dedicated his career to metallurgy, working for both General Electric and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL).

A lifelong member of the Iroquois Rod and Gun Club, he could often be found enjoying the outdoors and the camaraderie of fellow members. An avid hunter and fisherman, he especially looked forward to his annual trips to the Flanagan Farm in Hornell, New York, where he enjoyed making memories with family and friends.

Lewis was also a talented woodworker who took pride in building and creating with his hands. He enjoyed coin collecting and took great satisfaction in tending his vegetable garden each summer. Whether working outdoors, pursuing his hobbies, or spending time with loved ones, Lewis found joy in life's simple pleasures.

Lewis was predeceased by his beloved wife, Paulette, and his grandson, T.J. Ehlers.

He is survived by his children, Robin (Dan) Paquette, Charlene (Jason) Carp, and Gary (Marie) Callahan. He is also survived by his brothers, Walter (Caroline) Callahan, Robert (Mary Jane) Callahan, and Doug (Wendy) St. Andrews.

A devoted grandfather, Lewis will be lovingly remembered by Sarah Carp, Aubrey Ehlers, David Ehlers, Brandon Ehlers, Dylan Callahan, Lewis Callahan, Jordan Callahan, and Justice Callahan. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Troy, Zander, Jasmine, Jadyn, and Ty.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady. A brief funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., with interment immediately afterward at Schenectady Memorial Park Cemetery.
